Since 2017

Orkida’s story is one of perseverance, creativity, and passion for art. Founded in 2017 by Shabana Sina, with the support of her husband Ahmad Saeed Sina, Orkida began with five handmade products that quickly gained popularity in Herat. By 2018, it became an established local brand known for quality and craftsmanship in women’s fashion accessories.

When COVID-19 halted imports, Orkida seized the chance to fill the market gap with local products, cementing its place in Afghanistan’s accessory market. Despite the fall of the Afghan Republic and challenging conditions for women under Taliban rule, Orkida received support from organizations like IOM, NRC, and UNDP, allowing it to continue supporting over 20 families.

Now offering over 700 products, Orkida stands as a beacon of hope, resilience, and the strength of Afghan women pursuing economic independence and creativity amidst adversity.

Orkida Production Company was established in 2018 through the dedicated efforts and investment of Mrs. Shabana Sina. As a small enterprise, we operate with a workforce of just five individuals focused on essential production departments. Our primary offerings are in the accessories sector for women and girls, with approximately 400 different types of accessory products. The raw materials we use for creating women’s hair accessories include clips, bows, pearls, crystals, wire, thread, elastic, and other related items. Looking ahead, Orkida Production Company plans to launch new production lines during the off-peak accessory season (from October to March). This expansion will require an investment of around 10,000 Euros and the hiring of eight additional employees.

The new production lines will include:

    1. Socks with innovative designs for girls aged 1-7 and women aged 14-40
    2. Layette production (coverlets and mattresses) tailored for babies aged 1 month to 3 years, featuring ribbons and other specialized tools.
    3. Establishment of a sales center to enhance our market presence.

With the introduction of these new lines and necessary equipment, including advanced sewing machines, a laser machine for design, a gem press machine, and electric scissors, we anticipate a significant increase in our income. Within 3-6 months post-investment, we expect a 40-50% positive change in our company’s revenue, positioning us for sustainable growth in the future.
